When Your Shipment Arrives...

...by LTL Freight Carrier

Inspect your delivery before signing the freight bill. Once you sign the freight bill, you are stating that the shipment has arrived in satisfactory condition. At that time, neither the carrier nor the shipper is responsible for what is now your property. If there is damage or loss, it behooves you to catch it immediately, while the driver is still there to correlate your claim. Remember, you are not being impolite by inspecting your shipment, you are being wise!

If there is damage or if there is a discrepancy in quantities received, do not accept shipment without “DAMAGE” or “SHORTAGE” clearly noted on the freight bill and signed/dated by the driver. If this is not done, any attempts to later file a claim will be unquestionably more difficult. Follow up with the carrier immediately regarding your claim.

Damage or loss from transportation is the sole responsibility of the carrier.
